No less than 27 Class 40 found themselves docked in the heart of the city of Caen before taking the start of The Nomandy Channel Race on September 11 2016. The rise of the canal to Ouistreham is a parenthesis of calm, before releasing competitors for a 1,000 NM offshore race to Ireland and the famous Fastnet lighthouse for a return to the starting point after five days sailing. It is the Spanish crew of Pablo Santurde and Fidel Turienzo that finishes first in this hotly contested issue and changing conditions. The English Phil Sharp with the naval architect Sam Manuard finished second while the crew of V & B Maxime Sorel and Hugo Dalhenne completed the podium.
